In a welcoming atmosphere with Thuringian Bratwurst (fried sausage) and beer from the Bitburg brewery, the German professional association gave participants from around the world the new Competition Regulations for the IKA/Culinary Olympics in 2016.Andreas Becker, head of the German Chefs’ Association, wished all teams great success in Luxemburg and looked forward to meeting them again in Erfurt in 2016.
Gissur Gudmundsson, President of the World Associations of Chefs Societies invited the teams to meet again in Thuringia in two years, as in his view, the IKA/Culinary Olympics are the most important culinary exhibition in the world. VKD members such as current honorary members Reinhold Metz and Gerhard Bauer have contributed to the international success of Iceland’s national team. The Icelandic head of the World Association is very proud of this.
Wieland Kniffka, Managing Director of the Erfurt fairgrounds, assured the representatives of the internationals chefs’ associations that the region and the fairgrounds are already ideally prepared to welcome their guests. Traditionally, the German organiser uses the World Championship in Luxemburg to distribute information and the competition tasks and conditions of the Culinary Olympics.
It will be another year and nine months before the flame of the Culinary Olympics is lit at the Erfurt Fairgrounds and the 24th IKA/Culinary Olympics takes place.
